In the fall of 2018, the MST (Medical Steering Team) of the PCP Medical Ambassadors voted Ann Hagensen to serve as President of PCP Medical Ambassadors Program. Ann Hagensen, RN, BSN, FABC is a PCP Medical Ambassador, a member of the MST, and co-chairs the Nursing Focus Group. Ann commented, “I have volunteered with PCP for 6 years and have been on three teaching trips to Congo. I co-chair the Nursing Focus Group and am an active member of the MST. The MST partners with the Congolese medical leaders through emails and phone to develop subjects and match professional Medical Ambassadors for trips in the coming year. My professional career began with 21 years as a Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse. I then moved into management roles directing various departments. My final contribution in the professional world was as a Project Manager implementing a program which invited patients and families to be a part of improvement work. What a powerful addition patients, family, and caregivers are to the healthcare think tank! Now as a newly retired RN it is an honor to serve with the PCP team. I have always had a heart for the African people and it is a joy to see them advance their medical and administrative practices as we journey together.”
The role of President is a volunteer position and was previously held by Dr. Eric Gunnoe, who founded the PCP Medical Ambassador Program in 2011 along with Mary Stockmeyer. Eric will be staying on the MST and we are so thankful for his vision, leadership, and service! Thank you, Eric!
Please join us in congratulating Ann in her new role!
